Effect of APOE deficiency on bone mass and architecture by micro computerized tomography. Static histomorphometric analyses with the use of microCT on mice lumbar vertebrae (a, b) and femora (c, d) revealed significant differences between the APOE deficient and the C57BL/6 mice fed WTD in all the static parameters examined [BV/TV: bone volume/total volume, thickness of bone trabeculae, number of bone trabeculae/spicules, distance between separate bone trabeculae (trabecular separation)]. Bone quality and architecture were remarkably impaired in the APOE knock-out mice (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01)
