a HbMEC spheroids sprouting was significantly blocked by the EGFR neutralising receptor antagonist in p17-treated cells. b p17-promoted HbMEC migration and this was significantly reduced in the presence of the EGFR antagonist. c p17-promoted HbMEC tube formation was blocked by the EGFR antagonist. HbMEC treated with FGF-2 25 ng/ml were used as positive control. The bar chart represents the relative changes  compared with control cells. Each test was conducted in triplicate and statistical analysis performed using the Wilcoxon matched pair test. Experiments were repeated at least twice and a representative example is given
