Hypothetical model of the possible role of A7 antigen in the regulation of bone remodeling. If the function of A7 MAb is agonistic (Upper panel), expected function of A7 antigen may be as follows; Moderate up-regulation of osteoclast recruitment with marked suppression of bone formation and calcification. Such functions are thought to be required in the early stage of bone remodeling. In contrast, if the function of A7 MAb is antagonistic (Lower panel), function of A7 antigen would be as follows; Moderate inhibition of osteoclast recruitment with marked induction of bone formation and calcification.
