ECM1 secreted by HER2+, TN, or ER− breast cancer cells increases endothelial network formation and induces endothelial feedback promoting cancer cell migration and invasion through upregulation of NOTCH1 and NOTCH3 expression. Knockdown of ECM1 in cancer cells and NOTCH inhibition in ECs inhibits the network formation increase and the feedback induction.
