BMMs were cultured in the presence of M-CSF (10 ng/ml) and RANKL (50 ng/ml) for the indicated times. After culturing, cells were fixed, and immunostained for LRF (green) and NFATc1 (red). Phase contract images are also shown in the left panels. Merged fluorescence images are shown in the right panels. Arrow heads indicate small osteoclasts at 34 h stained with LRF and NFATc1. Arrows indicate large osteoclasts at 48 h stained with LRF but not with NFATc1.
