Generation of multimode partially coherent light with PCLA. To generate multimode partially coherent light described by coherency matrix \({\rho }_{{\rm{in}}}\), the PCLA is run backwards and illuminated with mutually incoherent sources. Their amplitude is set, for example with modulators as shown, so that their average power matches the eigenvalues \({\lambda }_{i}\) of the coherency matrix
