We used the data for the ‘medium’ size class of neuron reported in ref. 62. Density of CB-positive neurons is reduced in BD in layer II (SMD −0.98, p = 0.004) and layer III (SMD −0.92, p = 0.006), and with an overall significant reduction if all 5 layers are considered together (SMD −0.59 p < 0.0001)
