Constant multi-directional communication between glioblastoma cells and normal stromal cells such as endothelial cells or astrocytes allows the tumour to hijack its surrounding micro-environment, thus triggering a tumour supportive phenotype. Extracellular vesicles have been recently described as being directly involved in such crosstalk, along with diffusible cytokines and growth factors.
