From: FTO downregulation mediated by hypoxia facilitates colorectal cancer metastasis
In CRC cells, hypoxia induces FTO degradation through the ubiquitination-proteasomal pathway. Downregulation of FTO increases MTA1 mRNA m6A methylation, which is recognized by the m6A “reader” IGF2BP2, maintaining \ RNA stability and protein expression, thus leading to acceleration of cancer metastasis and progression.
