AIFM2 is frequently overexpressed in HCC, which is probably caused by DNA hypomethylation and downregulation of miR-150-5p. AIFM2 plays a crucial role in the promotion of tumor metastasis by increasing mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative phosphorylation through activation of NAD+/SIRT1/PGC-1α signaling.
