Abundances were approximated using IQR coverage normalized to the smallest sequenced sample. Grey shading indicates summer export pulse samples based on particulate carbon export flux. Surface (5–75 m), deep chlorophyll maximum (100–125 m), transition zone (150–250 m), and mesopelagic (500 m).
