Stable, steady-state mixtures of PAO1(TcR) and PAYY01 were grown in the presence or absence of 50 mM rhamnose, as indicated. Samples were removed for strain enumeration at the indicated times. The data are the mean ± SD of three independent experiments. Asterisks within the body of the plots indicate significant differences relative to the 0 h data for the respective strain. Asterisks above each pairing in the plot indicate significant differences between members of each pair at that sampling point (*p ≤ 0.05, **p ≤ 0.01; n.s. p > 0.05).
