On 1 December 2020 the new Skilled Worker route for sponsored skilled work replaced Tier 2 (General) visa requirements. In order to apply to work in the UK under this route individuals will need sponsorship by a licensed employer to do a specific job that meets minimum levels of skill and salary. Since 1 January 2021, visa requirements apply to EU/EEA citizens as well as Non-EU/EEA citizens.
To become a Sponsor you need to apply to the Home Office for a sponsorship licence and make certain commitments with regard to supporting the overseas dentist as well as monitoring their compliance with their visa conditions. The usual salary requirements for this type of visa is £25,600, £10.10 per hour or the 'going rate' if that is higher. However, for those working in some healthcare jobs which, includes dental practitioners, the minimum salary is at least £20,480 per year or more if the job's 'going rate' is higher.
