The BDA regularly receives calls from our members who wish to discuss handing back their NHS contracts, be it out of necessity or desire. Whatever a practice's reasons for handing back a contract a good conversation with your accountant, any practice plan and the BDA if you are an Extra or Expert member is a good or essential way to start your journey. We would always advise that you write a business plan to accommodate the change this would bring and do your research in the same way anyone new to business would do. A business plan is an organic document and should be reviewed and tweaked often.
We know with an NHS contract you have a regular flow of income into the business. So, anyone wishing to terminate their contract, should look at whether they can sustain the required income to keep the business running, without it.
