What to do if an NHS performer holder dies

When a performer holder dies there is a special provision to protect their family or personal representatives from having to dispose of the practice at very short notice. This brief guide offers advice on what steps to take to ensure business continuity in difficult circumstances.

Do not enter the date of death into Compass yourself. Email NHSBSA Dental Services with details of the death. NHSBSA will request a copy of the death certificate. Once received, they will update the performer record, close any NHS contracts attached and notify NHS Pensions. You will also need to notify the General Dental Council who will update the public register.
