Abstract
These two papers have demonstrated how the BDA has, right from its origins, striven to communicate with its membership. As was shown, the British Dental Journal (BDJ) has enlarged and developed in ways which made it more appropriate for the needs of each successive generation. It is fortunate that a series of outstanding editors took the helm to ensure its rise to satisfy those needs.
