a Schematic representation of CR strategy. b Male athymic (nu/nu) mice of 6–8 weeks old were randomized into four groups: control (n = 5) and three experimental groups (small, medium, and large primary tumors (n = 5)). Tumor cells (5 × 106) were s.c. injected in the right flank at −21, −14, and −7 days of the experimental groups (primary tumors). At day 0, a second inoculation (3 × 106 tumor cells) was performed in the left flank of the control and experimental groups (secondary tumors). Body weight and tumor growth were measured every 2 days starting at 7 days after inoculation when the tumors became detectable under the skin. One representative from at least three independent experiments is shown. The graph shows the average tumor volumes ± S.E.M. *P < 0.05, ***P < 0.001
