Under normal conditions, SNAP29 interacts with STX17 and VAMP8, which drives autophagosome-lysosome fusion. While upregulation of BNIP3 mediated by BBM, can interacts with SNAP29, which prevents the interaction between SNAP29 and VAMP8, thus blocks autophagosome-lysosome fusion
