Live/dead bacterial viability staining of A.pp in the presence of absence of neutrophils was conducted (green = living cell/A.pp, red = dead cell/A.pp). Samples were incubated for 1 and 3 h as described in Fig. 1f. Per sample 8–12 pictures were taken and representative pictures from one experiment, time-point 3 h are shown (scale bar = 10 µm).
