SESN2 is expressed in immune cells including macrophages, monocytes, and dendritic cells, and architects cellular responses to inflammatory insults. SESN2 when induced by stimuli can exert robust anti-inflammatory function, which is associated with scavenging ROS, promoting autophagy, reducing inflammasome, and diminishing cell death.
