The illustrated mitochondrial autophagy regulatory mechanism of BRF2 in LUSC. (I) BRF2 regulates SLC8A3 mRNA at the transcriptional level by regulating SLC8A3 splicing, leading to an increase in SLC8A3 protein expression. (II) SLC8A3 mediates mitochondrial Ca2+ and promotes mitochondrial Ca2+ ions in the steady state, thereby maintaining MMP. (III) SLC8A3 overexpression can inhibit the binding of PINK1 to TIMM23, thereby inducing autophagy. (IV) Mitochondrial steady destruction leads to apoptosis.
