UVA-induced DNA damage leads to RIPK3 activation through the TRIF and DAI signal responses. RIPK3 but not RIPK1 in turn induces necroptosis by upregulation of MLKL expression and suppresses apoptosis by downregulation of GSK 872 (RIPK3 inhibitor) also can positively regulate UVA-induced necroptosis, while Nec-1 (RIPK1 inhibitor) and Z-VAD (apoptosis inhibitor) cannot.
