The SOX family comprises nine groups, each exhibiting a highly conserved HMG domain spanning 79 amino acids. Members within the same subgroup exhibit similar structure and functionality. The diagram illustrates several domains, including the high mobility group (HMG) domain (blue box), homology domain of SOXB (red box), activation domain (orange box), inhibitory domain (pink box), dimerization domain (dark green box), glycine-rich domain (light green), strong TA domain (gray box). The chromosomal positions and domain structures of SOX members have been confirmed. The predicted SOX binding profiles were obtained from the JASPAR public database.
