Upon WARS-1 depletion, fragmented, floating chromosomes and micronuclei were observed in developing embryos, indicating chromatin instability. The bottom row zooms into the squared boxes in the top row. Arrows indicate the polar bodies, while the arrowheads point to floating chromosomes. The red arrowhead indicates a micronucleus in a developing embryo. The scale bar in the first row represents 20 μm, while the scale bar in the zoom-in row indicates 2 μm. Each experiment was performed at least six times, and the representative images were used in this figure.
