Reflectance spectra for the dorsal coloration in four color categories: blue (ae), brown (f), orange (gi) and yellow (j). Images of live frogs representing these categories (correspondingly labeled aj) are shown in Fig. 1. In each figure, the average reflectance spectrum value is shown with a solid black line while the shading shows the standard deviation. Figure titles provide information on the color category and sampling location where: East = east of the Xingu river; West = west of the Xingu river, and the localities are given using the codes provided in Table 1. At each locality, the number of individuals used for the measurement of reflectance spectra were as follows: OAL = 12; OAR = 20; BAR = 17; BRAR = 21; BAL = 13; BC = 2; OT = 4; YT = 7; BT = 6; BJ = 6
