Vascular remodeling induced by aging The thickness of the vascular wall increases with age, which is known as ‘vascular remodeling.’ Vascular resistance is exponentially increased by remodeled and hypertrophied blood vessels, and vasoconstrictive stimuli, such as sympathetic nervous activation, may exaggerate the increase in vascular resistance
