(I) The images taken at (a) 0 min (b) 25 min (c) 50 min (d) 75 min and e 100 min show the initiation and progression of an anode over the first 100 minutes of exposure. (II) The image demonstrates corrosion of the primary Zn dendrites and the eutectic whilst the Al-rich dendritic phase remained generally intact after 24 h immersion in 0.17 mol.L-1 NaCl pH 7 solution.
