a–f Polar plots of the Raman intensities of the B2g mode normalized by that of the Ag mode at three different positions, marked in the Raman maps above the corresponding graphs. The Raman maps were obtained at ~ 610 cm−1 in the (xx) polarization configuration. The polar plots measured in the parallel (ac) and cross (df) polarization geometries are displayed. The solid circles from 0° to 180° are experimental data, and the empty circles from 180° to 360° are the repetition of the data from 0° to 180° in order to construct the polar diagram. g The fitting functions consist of two planes perpendicular to each other. The blue (red)-boxed terms indicate (010)C ((100)C)-oriented JT planes, as displayed in the schematics above the formula. h The definition of the director, which is parallel to the JT planes. Scale bar in the Raman map is 1 μm.
