Fig. 11: Immunization with 6x-His-LY-CS:P NPs, 6x-His-KT-CS:P NPs, and 6x-His-BD-CS:P NPs efficiently enhances B. cenocepacia pulmonary clearance.

Colonization studies were performed three weeks following the last booster dose of 6x-His-LY-CS:P NPs, 6x-His-KT-CS:P NPs, 6x-His-BD-CS:P NPs, adjuvant, and phosphate- buffered saline. Vaccinated mice (n = 7/group) were infected intranasally with approximately 1 × 108 colony-forming units (CFU) of B. cenocepacia. Five days following infection, lungs were harvested, homogenized, serially diluted, and spread on LB agar plates to determine the bacterial load with a minimum load of detection of 10 CFU. Box and whiskers plot (min to max), the horizontal bar represents the mean of the log10 CFU/mL count, and the error bars indicate S.D. Statistical difference was determined using one-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s multiple comparisons test; Asterisk refers to statistically significant differences as follows: (****) p-value < 0.0001, ‘ns’ for non-significance.
