To study the electric fields produced by non-covalent interactions, we anchored a nitrile probe (field acceptor) against a series of field donors in a geometrically defined and confined site in a MOF. The field donor can be systematically varied by geometrical design, guided and visualized using a honey-comb lattice, resulting in an array of non-covalent interactions to be probed.
