  1. aThe table shows the yield (%) of detected products after 1 h incubation of assays with substrates (Supplementary Fig. 10 and 11). The yields were calculated based on the integration of UV peak areas for the observed products.
  2. bThe identities of azetidines (PA and MAA) and l-Val derivatives (see Fig. 3) were confirmed by comparing the retention time and molecular weight with authentic standards. The authentic standards were purchased from a commercial source (3,4-dh-Val) or isolated and structurally characterized by NMR from large-scale assays (PA and MAA).
  3. cThe structures of the other products were deduced from the observed molecular weight (-2 Da for desaturation or +16 Da for hydroxylation).
