The shaded areas in b correspond to the 99% confidence intervals of the average standardized coefficients. Global #1a (n = 131 sites) and Global #2 (n = 87 sites) include seven environmental stressors: aridity, temperature, seasonality, salinity, distance from neutral pH, heavy metals and human influence. Global #1b (n = 48) includes a subset of locations from Global #1a with these seven environmental stressors plus pesticides and microplastics.
