This figure shows the randomization of patients into three RCTs and specific experimental conditions. In each box corresponding to a specific condition, the first number refers to the number of patients who were randomly assigned to the corresponding condition, and the number in parentheses refers to the number of patients who satisfied the pre-registered inclusion/exclusion criteria for data analysis (as described in Methods) and thus were used in data analysis. Patients who were randomly assigned to the holdout arm in each RCT were collapsed into one aggregate holdout arm for final data analysis.
