To ensure that the sampling process was successfully completed, meaning that cells have been removed without damaging the agar, images are acquired before (left) and after (right) sampling at the same position. This data can also be used to estimate the number of bacterial cells which has been collected during sampling. (a) and (b) show two different example location of sampling.
