a, Representative time-averaged projections of DNA and FoxA1 signals show that FoxA1 condenses DNA in an all-or-nothing manner. On the right side of each pair of images, we localized the FoxA1 condensates and showed whether FoxA1 condenses DNA (filled-in gray circle) or not (open circle). Interestingly, there is a mixed population, revealing the bistable nature of the condensation process. b, Representative images of condensation bistability for the sequence-specific DNA-binding mutant, NH-FoxA1.
