Red solid circles and blue curves denote the result of the experiment and the calculation given by the convolution between the beam profile in three dimensions and the transverse electric field around a relativistic electron, respectively. Some experimental data points around the beam axis in the pulse broadening result are excluded because of the worse signal-to-noise ratio. Notably, the pulse width of the THz electric field (~ 0.79 ps) at x=0 mm is larger than the counterpart of the longitudinal beam size (~ 0.72 ps) in this energy region (35 MeV), as shown in b.
