Extended Data Fig. 10: Snapshots of the electromagnetic field around a relativistic electron beam with an infinitesimal diameter acquired by the PIC simulation.
From: Ultrafast visualization of an electric field under the Lorentz transformation

a–i, 2D transverse (a–c) and longitudinal (d–f) electric fields (Ex, Ez), and a magnetic field circulating around the beam axis (x=y=0) (g–i) (By) in the xz-plane at the time when an electron beam with an infinitesimal diameter, a pulse width of 1.0 ps (FWHM), an energy of 35 MeV, and a charge amount of 70 pC propagates for 5, 15, and 25 (=D) mm after the metallic boundary (z=0 mm), as obtained by the PIC simulation. The black dashed lines are part of a sphere with a radius of D-0.5 and D+0.5 mm.
