The color bar denotes the EO signal: ΔI⁄I=(I(ϕ,Γ)-I(ϕ,0))/I(ϕ,0). Here a corresponds to the crossed-Nicol configuration. Figure 2b shows the difference in the signal between b and c, i.e., the electric field profile obtained by the phase offset method.
