a, Evolution of the LLs with \(n\) and \({\Delta }_{1}\) in valleys \(K\) (red) and \(K^{\prime}\) (blue) at \({B}_{z}=\) 3 T, attained within single particle band structure calculations. The TMBR gives rise to valley polarization and corresponding degeneracy lifting of the LLs. At low carrier densities a full polarization occurs with only \(K\) LLs present (red). The red line labeled \({E}_{0}\) is the 0th \(K\) LL that resides at \(k=0\) and coincides with the annulus opening line \({n}_{a}(D)\). The cyan dashed line is the \({n}_{\pi }(D)\) line, which traces the positions where the \(K\) and \(K^{\prime}\) LLs acquire a relative shift of half a period. These calculated \({n}_{a}(D)\) and \({n}_{\pi }(D)\) lines are plotted in Fig. 1d–f. b, Evolution of the LLs with \(\varepsilon\) and \({B}_{z}\) for \({\Delta }_{1}=\) 20 meV. c, Evolution of the LLs with \(n\) and \({B}_{z}\) for \({\Delta }_{1}=\) 20 meV.
