Infusion of autoantibody A12, which recognizes aldehyde dehydrogenase 4 family member A1 (ALDH4A1), in atherosclerosis-prone mice delays atherosclerotic plaque formation, according to a new study published in Nature by Almudena Ramiro and colleagues.

Ldlr–/– mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) to develop atherosclerosis. The researchers performed a high-throughput single-cell analysis of the atherosclerosis-associated antibody repertoire and identified 56 antibodies expressed by in-vivo-expanded B cell clones in the context of the disease.
