ACTA2+ stromal cells are confined to the stromal cells of the deeper decidua spongiosa, whereas stromal cells in the decidua compacta are ACTA2−. IGFBP1+ stromal cells are enriched in the decidua compacta, whereas stromal cells around the glands in the decidua spongiosa are IGFBP1−.
