Points at which multiple lineages are shown diverging simultaneously indicate splits that occur in short succession (the order of which we cannot confidently assess) but are not meant to represent exact multifurcations. *Proportion is not well-constrained (for Mbuti, the sum of the two indicated proportions is well-constrained but not the separate values). Supplementary Information section 3 provides the full parameters of the inferred model.
