Retraction to: Nature https://doi.org/10.1038/nature22821Published online 14 June 2017
In follow-up experiments to this Letter, we have been unable to replicate key aspects of the original results. Most importantly, the findings from behaviour studies and sequencing of microglia isolated from 564Igi autoimmune mice as shown in Figs. 1a, b, d and 3a, b are not substantiated upon further analysis of the original data. The authors therefore wish to retract the Letter. We deeply regret this error and apologize to our scientific colleagues.

So are they going to give back all the taxpayer money wasted on this stuff? How about the biotech company, how much money did they receive based on this junk?

Well, the majority of the experiments happening in the labs are not going to work. This is just one of them. This is the nature of science and this paper, even retracted can point to a direction for future research, which pushes us closer to the truth. No money is wasted. Every step of grant application and paper submission takes time, thoughts and effort. This is how scientists make sure every penny from taxpayers is well spent. And the fact that this is a basic research article, no biotech company should benefit from the paper just yet... Not so shady as you might have imagined. People definitely need to be educated more on this...
