It is seen that the magnetic phase-shift images sensitively change depending on the out-of-plane components of the spin direction. f–j, The out-of-plane components are 0° (f), 10° (g), 20° (h), 30° (i) and 90° (j), for the antiferromagnetic domain shown in Extended Data Fig. 8a. The best match with the experimental phase-shift image shown in Fig. 3 is c.
