  1. Values for the data points in Fig. 4. (See refs. 100,101,102,103). *In this measurement, the pion mass is extracted from the experiment–theory comparison. To account for that in the QED test, the theoretical uncertainty is adjusted to the previous literature value of the charged pion mass. Similarly, this measurement is used to determine the electron mass such that a test of QED can only be as accurate as the accuracy of an independent electron-mass measurement. Recently, the electron mass has been confirmed with similar accuracy in HD+ spectroscopy104, allowing to (basically) use the full experimental precision for a test of QED. Calculated similar to the 118Sn49+ theory g factor as described in Methods.
