  1. Here the layer boundary is defined by a compositional change, i.e., the fraction of TMM in the mantle19. We measure the fraction of enclosed mass below the layer boundary and then invert the enclosed mass radius relation in the PREM model87 to get the depth of the layer boundary in present-day Earth.
