Predicted current and past distributions of suitable habitats for six species, derived from the spatial overlay of ecological amplitude layers of each species under each environmental factor (niche variables, spatial superimposition modeling). A higher number of parameter overlaps represents a higher probability of suitable habitat. The results show similar patterns to the paleo-distributions shown in Extended Data Fig. 7, except that this approach predicts more current suitable habitats for A. za on the northwest side of the island.
