Data points are individual observations for the ecological indicators with available data in 2017 (with jitter to avoid overlaps). Each ecological indicator tracks a consumption-based environmental ‘footprint’ relative to its respective downscaled per capita boundary (green line) in percentage terms, for which zero indicates no overshoot, and ranging from no environmental footprint (*) to an unbounded upper extent of overshoot. For each country-cluster box plot, the horizontal line and the box represent the median and the interquartile range (IQR) respectively, and the ‘whiskers’ extend to the closest observations greater than/less than 1.5 × IQR.
