Extended Data Fig. 8

(a) Experimental scheme. SPF, co-housed progeny, and pet shop-fostered inbred mice (all BALB/cJ) were subjected to the standard sensitization protocol. Serum was collected on d12, and mice were I.P. challenged with cOVA on d14. (b) Maximal temperature loss following systemic cOVA challenge and (c) cOVA-reactive antibodies (n = 9 SPF, 13 co-housed, 10 fostered). (d) Baseline serum immunoglobulins (n = 13 co-housed, 11 fostered). (e) Baseline cOVA-reactive IgG (n = 14 SPF, 15 co-housed) and IFNγ+ CD4+ T cells (n = 6) in SPF and co-housed mice. (f-h) Passive systemic anaphylaxis scheme (f), temperature loss following challenge (g) and maximal temperature loss (h) in co-housed or control BALB/cJ mice (n = 9 SPF, 10 co-housed). Statistical significance was determined using one-way ANOVA with Tukey correction for multiple comparisons (b,c) or two-tailed unpaired Student’s t-test (d,e,g). Error bars represent SD besides (g) (SEM). Data are pooled from two or more repeats of each experiment.
