  1. Confusion matrices and accuracy estimate for the abrupt and gradual change maps. Non-abrupt refers to pixels that were stable or experienced only gradual change, while non-gradual refers to pixels that were stable or experienced only abrupt change within the analyzed ALAN region (Supplementary Fig. 3). The uncertainty ± indicated the margin of error of 95% confidence interval. The distribution of these validation sample units is shown in Supplementary Fig. 5.
